In a recent report, Apartment Guide bills Cincinnati as one of the best cities in which to work from home. The Queen City comes in at No. 2 on the list and has the best showing of any city in the Midwest.

With more people working from home during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic — and during this, our winter of extreme discontent and snow — Apartment Guide’s rankings are especially timely.

To determine its work-from-home winners, Apartment Guide uses data such as two-bedroom rental rates and square footage, cost of a family cell phone plan, internet speed and more for top metro areas.

According to Apartment Guide, the average two-bedroom rent in Cincinnati is $1,526.99, with an average size of 1,094 square feet. A family cell phone plan costs $179.86, and the internet speed here averages 45.16 megabits per second.

Apartment Guide describes Cincinnati thusly:

While you can live in Cincinnati and work remotely anywhere, the city is home to a number of major corporations. In fact, six Fortune 500 companies are headquartered in Cincinnati, including Kroger, Procter & Gamble, Fifth Third Bank, American Financial, Western & Southern Financial and Cintas, plus General Electric’s Global Operations Center. And thanks to food delivery, you can work from home but still have your favorite Cincy foods brought right to your door. Chili five-way, goetta and Graeter’s Ice Cream can show up at the click of an app.

Cincinnati isn’t the only Ohio city that makes Apartment Guide’s top ten. Columbus barely squeaks in at No. 10, earning accolades for its relatively low rent amid new construction. And Toledo and Cleveland aren’t far behind at No. 15 and 16, respectively.

So set up that home office and prepare those expense reports while munching on Ohio’s best doughnuts. And when you wrap things up for the day, don’t let the bed bugs bite. After all, we’re one of the top cities for those, too.
