Employees required to work from home during the coronavirus pandemic can have a £6 per week or £26 per month allowance paid tax free by their employer.
Alternatively, they can claim a deduction from earnings for this allowance, if the employer did not physically pay it.
You can claim even if you were a home worker for a short period of time.You can claim online or by form P87.
Incentives For Employing New People
There is an incentive payment of up to £2,000 if you employ an apprentice that started work with you
between August 2020 and January 31, 2021.
There is also the Kickstart scheme which provides funding to employers to create job placements for 16-24 year olds receiving Universal Credit.
If you have been told to self isolate on or after September 28, 2020, you are under a legal obligation to do so, but could be eligible for a £500 Test and Trace Support payment if you live in England and are employed or self employed, are in receipt of certain benefits and are unable to work from home and will lose income as a result of self isolating. There is also a discretionary payment if you are on a low income and will face financial hardship as a result of self isolating.
