Cuba’s agenda focuses on implementation of economic strategy

Havana, Nov 28 (Prensa Latina) The implementation of Cuba’s economic strategy at local level marks the government’s agenda, as it was shown by a recent government visit to the special municipality Isle of Youth, in the country’s southwest.

Yesterday, President Miguel Diaz-Canel, Vice President Salvador Valdes and the Council of Ministers toured that territory to assess food production and promote local development and productive actions.

Another priority of the government team was to verify the preparation for the financial ordering in the island, regarding monetary and exchange rate unification, wage and price reform, and the elimination of undue subsidies and free gifts.

In the exchange with the authorities of the territory, the quality of services and the main approaches of the population were also reviewed, the news website of the Presidency points out.

In particular, Diaz-Canel assessed the progress of the housing construction program, visited local enterprises and held a meeting with young people helping to fight the Covid-19 pandemic. This kind of government visits were interrupted by the pandemic, but were resumed in October in the eastern province of Santiago de Cuba.
