North Bay husband-and-wife duo Aimee and Sean Dayton, better known as Northern Skylight, reached Top 5 on iTunes with their new album Acoustic Covers, Vol. 1.
The Daytons previously toured across Canada and in the UK. However, with most concerts on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they are using video and social media to get their music heard.
“These songs were recorded at home and made with a purpose,” the Daytons state in a media release. “With so much going on right now, we wanted to do our part to bring some positivity into the world.”
Northern Skylight’s music videos from this summer have been seen close to 100,000 times and have also been featured on CTV Northern Ontario. Their album, released on Oct. 13, reached Top 5 on iTunes in the singer/songwriter genre – alongside notable artists such as James Taylor and Norah Jones.
Volume 1, which includes songs such as What a Wonderful World and Here Comes the Sun, is the first of many they hope to produce and release in the coming months.
