Optometrists who want to increase their digital marketing skills are being encouraged to join a new webinar series, launched by optical marketing specialists OptiCommerce.

The six 25-minute sessions are designed to provide those in the sector with achievable actions that will help them build a better online presence.

With online retail sales in the UK growing by over 26% in 2020 as a result of COVID-19, it is hoped that the BYTESIZE programme will add value for optometrists and enable long-term resilience for the vocation and industry.

Webinars will cover topics including social media, SEO, ecommerce solutions, telemedicine and teleretail, virtual try-on and blogging. Topics were chosen because of their ability to enhance a practice’s online capability during this challenging time.

Paul Clare, co-founder and director of OptiCommerce, said: “The eyecare journey is complex and at times individual to a practice. Although parts of this journey cannot be performed remotely, there are certain sections that can.

“Adjusting an existing “bricks and mortar” patient journey to a “bricks and clicks” edition will assure patients their safety is your utmost concern, keep your practice transacting regardless of any restrictions in your local area, and empower your employees (one of your largest costs) to continue delivering exceptional patient service and upselling products.”

The first BYTESIZE webinar has already taken place, with further sessions running weekly on Wednesdays until 18 November. All webinars are free to attend and the programme also comes with OptiCommerce’s Bricks and Clicks Eyecare Playbook. Participants receive a certificate of achievement if they attend all six sessions.

Webinars run at 9am GMT, and are repeated at 4pm in order to offer flexibility. Attendees can take part in all webinars, or just join the specific ones that are most relevant to them.
