Google has launched the ‘Grow Stronger with Google’ programme aimed at 1 million job-seekers and businesses in the MENA. Google will work with Egypt’s Ministry of Youth and Sports, Saudi Arabia’s Atta Digital Initiative, and the UAE’s NAMA Women Advancement Establishment to train 300,000 students and businesses in digital marketing. The company is allocating USD 1.1 million in grants to organisations such as Mercy Corps, Arab Tourism Organisation, and Youth Business International, for digital marketing and strategies.
Google will also provide loans worth USD 3 million to thousands of under-served small businesses through online lending platform Kiva. During the lockdown, online shopping searches in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE surged by 28 percent, according to data from Google. The company launched Market Finder in Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the UAE to provide businesses with recommendations and resources in order to enter new markets.
