Now that the launch day is set, pricing has been revealed, and pre-orders are open, all that remains for Sony to do is show us exactly what the PlayStation 5 is capable of. That starts on Oct. 4 in Japan as part of YouTube Gaming Week.
As WCCFTech reports, between Sept. 24 and Oct. 4, YouTube is hosting an online program called YouTube Gaming Week. It lasts for 12 days and over 100 Japanese creators have been invited to participate. It’s basically a celebration of gaming and will show off various games across consoles and mobile platforms. Sony has confirmed that the PS5 will be one of those consoles.
In a post on the Japanese version of the PlayStation.Blog, Sony says “popular creators who have a YouTube channel will experience PlayStation 5.” However, it looks as though Sony is waiting until the last day of the YouTube event to share what these creators think of the new console, with a “Try!” show planned where creators can share their thoughts.
Although not confirmed, hopefully we get to see more than just these creators talking. What we really want is raw footage of the games being played on the console using the new controller as well as the new user interface in action. I’d be surprised if Sony kept us waiting until Oct. 4 before talking about the PS5 again, though. We’re entering the key pre-release marketing period now, so expect a lot of Xbox and PlayStation marketing for the next couple of months.
