Now that we’ve calmed down after the news of baby number three for Chrissy Teigen and John Legend, we can go back to our regularly scheduled programming of all of their food recipes and lovable antics. The latest (recipe, that is) to hit Chrissy’s YouTube channel is John’s “kid-friendly” chicken tenders and they look so good that even adults will love them.
John has showed off his fried chicken recipe on Chrissy’s channel before but said that these chicken tenders are an option more compatible for Luna and Miles. You can serve the tenders with whatever dipping sauce you please, but John took viewers through the step-by-step process of making Chrissy’s honey mustard ranch dipping sauce.
First things first, John cut up some chicken breast into thinner pieces before marinating it in buttermilk, garlic powder, cayenne, and Lawry’s seasoning. He said it’s important to let the chicken marinate for a while, whether it be overnight or from morning to dinner time. Once it’s been marinating for several hours, the breading John uses is a mixture of flour, baking powder, Lawry’s, cayenne, and a little bit of buttermilk to help it stick.
While coating each piece of chicken in breading John served up one of the hottest takes I’ve heard in a while. Apparently he’s not a fan of chicken nuggets at all so to each his own, I guess. “I’m not a chicken nugget person. I almost feel like they should be banned because they’re gross. I just feel like they taste very like fake meat. Chicken tenders taste like real meat,” he said.
John then made some of Chrissy’s honey mustard ranch by mixing mayo, buttermilk, dijon mustard, honey, salt, pepper, oregano, garlic, onion powder, cayenne, and paprika. From there he fried up the tenders until they were golden brown and plated them with the dipping sauce.
To show just how kid-friendly they are, Luna hopped on the counter and took a bite for herself. From the looks of it, she’s a fan of eating them and John enjoys making them. “I love frying chicken. It’s one of my favorite things,” he said.
