CBS Affiliate Settles Freelancer’s Age Bias Lawsuit for $215,000

A CBS affiliate and Dallas-Fort Worth station KTXA-TV will pay $215,000 to resolve an EEOC lawsuit alleging a 43-year-old freelance traffic reporter wasn’t hired full-time because of her age, federal court records show.

CBS Stations Group of Texas and the station instead hired a 27-year-old and then a 24-year-old, who both lacked experience, when its full-time traffic reporter resigned, passing over Tammy Dombeck Campbell, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission alleged in the September 2017 lawsuit.

Judge Barbara M.G. Lynn of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas signed off on the consent decree settling the case Sunday….
