An Excellent Opportunity
Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make up. Brent’s diversity is evident to all who visit our borough and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity has created a place that is truly unique and valued by those who live and work here.
The council is pursuing a far-reaching transformation agenda that better meets the needs of our community so it is an exciting time to join us.
This is a rare opportunity to join the team as a designer/videographer. The design/film team enforces the council’s agreed design standards across multiple communications platforms, including guidance on the use of the corporate identity.
Working across multiple communications channels, we are looking for creative, bright and talented graphic designer/videographers to join us on a permanent basis. Working as part of the fast-paced communications unit, you will effectively create both offline and online designs and a variety of films with exceptional visual impact.
Working largely to agreed briefs, you will be required to actively suggest creative ideas and bring work to fruition from concept to implementation. You must also have good organisational skills, a keen eye for detail and the ability to think on your feet.
Due to the ongoing issues around the Covid-19 virus, while we would prefer London-based applications, we would also be happy to accept strong applications from candidates who can work remotely from their own home, with occasional visits to the Brent Civic Centre in Wembley, London, for training and film work.
Please do not apply for these roles unless you have both excellent graphic design skills and strong videographer skills. your application will be automatically rejected if you have only one.
Note that the interview process (both in-house and remotely) will require you to pass a graphic design and film editing test..
The ideal candidate will have creative design and film flare, great attention to detail, and be highly skilled in using InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Adobe Premiere. The role is a mix of graphic design and filmmaking, working in the house style, preparing magazines, brochures, flyers, posters, infographics, and large banners for print, and a wide range of film materials for online presentation. The work is varied and interesting and requires a designer/videographer who can multi-task and handle tight deadlines.
