Work in SA Without Permit Earning Honest Living in 2020

According to South African law, it is illegal for a foreign national to work and reside in the country without a  SA work permit or a permanent residence. If caught it may get you a serious jail term but because of the dire economic crisis in countries across the entire continent, millions have emigrated to South Africa in search of greener pastures. Due to a high influx of immigrants, South Africa now finds it hard to legally document all these foreign nationals.

Recently the statistics office stated that there’s a 30 % unemployment rate in South Africa, meaning to say 30% of legal employable South Africans and documented foreign nationals are without work, but however these stats don’t include the millions of illegal non documented foreign nationals residing in South Africa, so if you should do your math right it is quite evident that the unemployment rate is way above 30%

According to the South Africa statics office, over six million Zimbabweans are living illegally in South Africa, and it is quite clear that chances of getting employed in South Africa are getting slimmer and slimmer each and every day, however, it does not mean you should resort to illegal means to survive or give up on life.

The gig economy has been booming—and it appears that freelancing is still on the rise. According to a survey by Freelancers Union, just in America alone, 57 million earn freelance income—with tens of millions likely to follow. The study reports that freelancers should outnumber traditional workers by 2027.

Freelancing has always been a popular way to earn money online and the Internet has several options. There are several websites offering freelance tasks for people with varying skills. All you need to do is to create an account, browse through the listings, and apply for the task that suits you. Some websites may even require you to create a personal listing with the details of your skillset, so that interested clients can contact you directly. Some of the popular freelancing websites include Fiverr.com, upwork.com, and freelancer.com.

Vlogging

A vlog is a piece of video that documents a person’s life or expertise, with an average length of around five minutes. The word ‘vlog’ is a portmanteau of ‘video’ and ‘blog. ‘In essence, it’s just a motion picture version of the type of content you could expect to find on a traditional blog. Now the biggest question most people ask is how to earn some real money?

They put all these resources into making entertaining videos and then give them away for free on sites like YouTube. So where does the income come from?  There are 3 main types of monetization for vloggers:

Advertising – Video sites (like YouTube) usually offer some sort of advertising service for video uploaders. When viewers see or click the ads, the vlogger gets a percentage, and so does the video site.

Sponsorship – Not easy to get at first, but once you have a significant number of subscribers, some businesses will pay you to mention them during videos. The amount depends on the number of expected viewers.

Affiliate marketing – Easier to come by than sponsorships. Vloggers link to a product (or provide a coupon code) either in the video itself or in the video description. If a viewer buys something, the vlogger gets a cut.

Dropshipping

Dropshipping is a retail fulfilment method where a store doesn’t keep the products it sells in stock. Instead, when a store sells a product using the dropshipping model, it purchases the item from a third party and has it shipped directly to the customer. As a result, the seller doesn’t have to handle the product directly.

The biggest difference between dropshipping and the standard retail model is that the selling merchant doesn’t stock or own inventory. Instead, the seller purchases inventory as needed from a third party—usually a wholesaler or manufacturer—to fulfil orders.

This is actually a highly profitable business, the world has become one global village and because of the COVID-19 epidemic millions of consumers will avoid crowds and practice social distancing, hence opting more for online shopping, there are many e-commerce platforms that you may start with such as Joomla, Shopify, and Wix , but the one I recommend amongst the  three is Shopify
